Philanthropy

One of the founding principles of Alpha Omicron Pi is to be of service to others – to bring into the world around us a spirit of love, not for self glory, but as an opportunity to give something back to our communities.

Arthritis Foundation

International Philanthropy
Alpha Omicron Pi’s International Philanthropy supports Arthritis, Juvenile Arthritis, and related diseases. Since 1967, when we adopted the Arthritis Foundation and Canadian Arthritis Society as our international philanthropy, over one million dollars has been raised by AOIIs to help researchers find a cure for this crippling disease that, so often, targets women as its victims.
The AOII Foundation grants funds annually to support Arthritis Research for the purpose of finding the cause and a cure. In addition, the Foundation supports the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization with grants for family arthritis education and children’s arthritis camps.

Local Philanthropy
The Nu Omicron chapter sponsors a number of events to raise money for Arthritis Research as well as to help other charitable causes. Annual events include AOII Live and Strike Out Arthritis. Additionally, chapter members provide service hours on an individual basis to a number of local organizations. Our chapter completed over 2,300 individual service hours this past semester!

This year, our Fall Benefit, AOII Live, will be held on October 6th from 5-7 p.m.

The sisters of Alpha Omicron Pi are so thankful for being able to work with local Nashville artist, Beth Inglish, in order to promote AOII Live!–the annual Fall philanthropy event benefiting Juvenile Arthritis and Arthritis Research.
Beth Inglish is a local Nashville mixed media artist and writer for the Nashville Arts Magazine and The Music Inspired Blog.

“My greatest inspiration comes from music. It is my portal to the divine.  Music allows me to experience God and through this same channel, he communicates through me to the world. While immersed in the creative process colors, shapes and patterns will come to me seemingly out of nowhere. I often become seduced by curiosity, experimenting with different techniques and materials.”
Beth is so excited to be working with AOII this year for their event, “AOII Live!”  She has volunteered her time and her signature Rose Guitar artwork to help AOII raise money for Arthritis Research.  To learn more about Beth, shop at her online store or commision her for work please visit: www.binglishART.com
